Lately, it’s as if we watch more than we live; screens, scrolling, other people’s highlights. The real stuff drifts further off, and secondhand stand-ins take their place.

I miss how easy it used to be. Gathering around the table, at the club, on the court; it was a way of life. Now, not so much. The spots that threw us all together are disappearing, and nobody is replacing them.

That’s why I started Firsthand. To make more places worth being in, full of people worth knowing.
